A Custom Residential Woodshop
Designed to match the existing character of their home, and to add to the beauty of their property.
This custom residential woodshop was designed for a client who had outgrown the makeshift wood shop he had created for himself in his home’s existing garage. Faced with the need for a truly dedicated space for his passion, and his desire to reclaim his home’s garage my client enlisted me to help create a dedicated space for his woodworking. The design of the wood shop is intended to match the existing character and architectural features of the client’s home while maintaining the full functionality needed from a building dedicated to the pursuit of this creative hobby. A main garage door allows for simple loading and unloading of materials and finished projects, along with taller ceiling heights within the woodshop allow for the unimpeded movement of large lengths of lumber. An array of windows along the rear façade allows natural light to penetrate deep into the the woodshop, and also makes available the beautiful views of the picturesque countryside. These windows also become important in allowing cross ventilation to work effectively to pull warm dusty air out of the woodshop and replace it with cooler cleaner air.
